The highest-altitude ranch in Central Europe

We love the mountains, we raise cattle and we respect nature. Just below the lodge, a herd of Highland cattle grazes on the mountain meadows — and this is exactly where the meat we serve on your plate comes from.

We farm · We work honestly · We live with love

The highest-altitude farm in Central Europe

We are the highest-altitude farm in Central Europe. We farm meadows at altitudes of up to 1,350 m a.s.l. Bouda Klínovka sits at 1,227 m a.s.l., with breathtaking views over the Klínový potok valley and far beyond.

Since 2017, Bouda Klínovka has been part of the Klínové Boudy Mountain Ranch, which farms the surrounding mountain meadows.

The lodge stands on a south-facing slope that catches the sun all day long. Its location makes it an ideal base for both winter and summer mountain hikes, as well as for relaxation and fun with the children.

We offer a total of 7 rooms and 2 dormitories in the attic. Of these, 3 rooms have their own bathroom and the remaining 4 rooms share a bathroom on the floor. The non-smoking restaurant seats 45 guests and has a spacious terrace for up to 45 people.

In winter we can, by arrangement, organise transport for guests and luggage from Strážné – Lom or from Špindlerův Mlýn, more precisely from the upper station of the Svatý Petr cable car.

Bouda Klínovka has 4 floors and the whole building has been fully renovated.

“A peaceful place with wonderful views over the countryside. It is as if time had stopped here — no one is in any hurry. We rested beautifully and soaked up the mountain atmosphere.”

More than just cattle

The breed that belongs here

For our herd we chose Highland cattle — a tough, hardy breed from the rugged north-west Highlands of Scotland, whose origins reach all the way back to the Celts. It is a living gene reserve: it has been bred in the same form since the 18th century and modern breeding has never touched it. As a result, the animals have kept their natural instincts and resilience.

Highlands are made for the mountains. They graze with us up to an altitude of 1,350 metres and stay outdoors all year round, whether it is freezing or the sun is blazing. They are undemanding when it comes to pasture and do not damage the soil — on the contrary, they help the mountain meadows and their diversity. In summer they have around 40 hectares of pasture at their disposal.

Why you eat the very best here

From our meadow straight to your table

All the beef you taste here comes from our own herd of Highland cattle. It grazes on the mountain meadows just below the lodge — no imports, no long journeys. We raise the animals calmly and with care, and then let the meat age slowly so it gains its exceptional, full flavour.

It is meat of top quality — tender, juicy and naturally lean. These are the steaks you do not forget. You will not find more honest beef in the mountains.

Project: Forage-mowing machinery

Purchase of a front and a rear side-mounted mower adapted for mowing in mountain conditions with steep and rugged terrain, in order to produce high-quality feed for the cattle we raise. The project is co-financed by the European Union.
