The journey begins down in the valley

Leave the car below. The rest is up to you.

You can't drive all the way to Bouda Klínovka — and that's exactly where the magic lies. The last few kilometres you cover on foot, whether it's summer or there's a metre of snow on the ground. Here you'll find everything you need to know before you set off.

Why you come on foot

You can't reach the lodge in your car. Klínovka lies behind the first zone of KRNAP. For us, it's about keeping the right energy here at Klínové Boudy. We believe that cars simply don't belong up here on the peaks. And we're convinced our guests, too, appreciate the peace, the fresh air and the unobstructed views down into the valley.

You leave the car at a car park down in the valley and walk the last few kilometres on your own two feet — choose your starting point depending on where you're coming from. And if you really can't make it to us on foot, we'll gladly come and collect you in Strážné and drive you back down to the valley for CZK 2,000 per trip.

When the sun is shining

In summer, a pleasant walk uphill

In summer the route runs mostly along a forest asphalt road and a path beside the Klínový potok stream — along the way you'll pass pools and giant's kettles. The climb is gentle.

The trail from Strážné is not waymarked, but it's easy to follow. It is not suitable for prams or bikes.

Summer meadow by the trail to the lodge

Summer routes — choose your starting point

1 · From Strážné Lom — 6 km · 1.5 h

From the bus station in Vrchlabí, a small bus runs to the final stop „Strážné Lom" (it usually connects with the service from Prague). There is a car park at Strážné Lom, free and unguarded in summer. From the car park, cross the little bridge and walk uphill along the stream.

After 200 m, where the main road bends sharply uphill to the right, carry straight on along the forest asphalt road, still following the stream. Continue slightly uphill for about 2.5 km to a turning circle and car park — this is where the road for cars ends. From here a path continues along the right bank of the stream; after 1.5 km you reach a bridge over the stream, which you cross. Now keep climbing along the forest path until you join the trail marked with the green tourist waymark. Turn right and keep climbing, and after a while you'll reach Klínové Boudy — Bouda Klínovka is the last lodge on the meadow to the right of the trail.

The route is a real feast for the eyes — along it you can admire the pools and giant's kettles in the Klínový potok stream. It is not suitable for prams or bikes. The trail is not waymarked, but it's easy to follow.

2 · From Špindlerův Mlýn

In summer you can park free of charge at the „Labská" car park (the first one on the right off the road). The other car parks are guarded and charged according to the current price list. A regular bus runs to Špindlerův Mlýn from Černý Most in Prague.

By cable car and then on foot — 5 km · 1 h

From the car park or bus station, head through the centre of Špindlerův Mlýn to Svatý Petr and the lower cable-car station. The cable car operates seasonally according to the ski resort's rules. From the upper cable-car station, follow the blue waymark to Bouda na Pláni, then the green waymark to Klínové Boudy. Bouda Klínovka is the last lodge on the meadow on the right-hand side. About 5 km on foot, 1 hour's walk.

On foot along the flank of Stoh — the most scenic route

This is the most beautiful, scenic route to us. From Špindlerův Mlýn, follow the blue waymark across the ski slopes in Svatý Petr and on along the flank of Stoh to the former Klínovka. From there, 500 metres downhill along the road to Bouda Klínovka. The last 200 m follow the green waymark.

3 · From Pec pod Sněžkou

In summer you can park at the central car park P3 „Kaplička" (the first one on the right past the Pecr hotel). The car park is guarded and charged according to the current price list. A regular bus runs to Pec pod Sněžkou from Černý Most in Prague.

By cable car and on foot — 6 km · 2.5 h

Walk through the whole of Pec, past the Javor cable car, all the way to the lower station of the Hnědý vrch cable car. It operates seasonally according to these rules. From the upper cable-car station, head left along the cycle path towards Lyžařská bouda and then along the red waymark towards Liščí hora and Rozcestí. From Rozcestí, follow the green waymark all the way to Klínovka. About 6 km on foot, 2.5 hours' walk.

On foot via Výrovka — 8 km · 3.5 h

From the car park, head towards Velká pláň, then past Richterovy boudy and up a long climb to Výrovka. At the signpost, take the red waymark to the left towards Rozcestí, then turn right onto the green waymark to Klínovka. About 8 km on foot, 3.5 hours' walk.

On foot from car park P4 „Zelený potok" — 7.8 km · 3.25 h

Another option is a hike from the P4 „Zelený potok" car park, following the green waymark towards Severka to Rozcestí and then the green waymark to Klínovka. About 7.8 km on foot, 3.25 hours' walk.

Frequently asked questions about getting here

Can we manage the trip with small children?

Yes. The most comfortable way is to drive to Špindlerův Mlýn and take the cable car up from Svatý Petr — from the upper station it's about an hour to us along the waymarks. And if you can't make the whole way on foot with the children, we'll bring you up with your luggage — see the transfer above.

What if I have a lot of luggage?

No problem — by arrangement, we'll bring it up. Get in touch with reception in advance.

Can I make it after dark too?

Yes, but bring a head torch and let us know when you'll arrive. In the evening a halogen light shines at the lodge, so you'll find your way. We check guests in by 8 p.m. at the latest, unless arranged otherwise.

What if the weather turns or it snows on the way?

Get in touch and we'll advise you. In winter we drive and advise according to the current conditions — that's why it's best to let us know in advance.

Really can't I drive even a little closer by car?

You leave the car in the valley — at Strážné Lom or at Labská in Špindlerův Mlýn. Klínovka lies behind the first zone of KRNAP, so the last few kilometres are always on your own two feet (or by transfer to Strážné).
